A postmodern interpretation of narration or grand narration.

di Ronni Ahmmed

I have been practicing my art for the last twenty years. I always wanted to tell stories through my art language and I find myths to be the greatest treasure of all stories. Myth can sort out your inner mapping profoundly and work as a mirror to reflect civilizations as well as personal worlds.

With myth I blend absurdity, spirituality, science, politics, metaphysics, sarcasm, etc.

My language is a postmodern interpretation of narration or grand narration. In 2005 I did a huge painting (30m X 3m) of NOAH’S ARK which was a grand narration of myth and culture, including literature, politics, poetry etc.

In 2008, I participated in Fourth Fukuoka Triennial (Japan) with a video work with Yasmin Kabir.

In 2011, 2012 and 2013, I participated in Open14, Open15 and Open16 in Venice, Italy, with installation and banners. In 2012, I created the world’s largest turtle sculpture (17m X11m) with a huge mural inside on turtle myths of the world, at the Mermaid Beach Resort in Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh).

I also participated in Santorini Biennale of Arts 2012, in Greece.

In 2013, my Art book ‘The Cosmic Ark’ was officially launched at the Venice Biennale. My Artwork was also shown at the Imago Mundi Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2013, under the Luciano Benetton Collection.

Recently I participated in the Florence Biennale 2013 (November 2013) and received an award for my animation video ‘Seven hundred miles of sleep walking’.

Seven Hundred Miles of Sleep Walking is a multimedia video work consisting animation, music and video images. It has a linguistic approach and is also a new interpretation of Ronni Ahmmed’s who has been working on mith, absurdty, spirituality, and politics, through his art for the last twenty years. The video contains such elements with new experimentation.
